Volker Mueller, AIA
NBBJ
Volker joined
NBBJ in 1998 as Design Technology Manager. Focus of his position
is the development and implementation of a technology strategy
in NBBJ’s architectural design practice. While implementing
sustainable design on many projects, NBBJ’s practice has
also increasingly pursued the idea of an integrated practice.
NBBJ regards BIM as the enabling technology that is rapidly
gaining acceptance as an important business tool in the building
industry. Keeping optimal utilization of this emerging technology
aligned with the reality of a forward-looking, sustainable,
ever-evolving architectural practice is an exhilarating challenge
to the profession. Volker’s role is to help guide NBBJ
in this development.
Prior to joining
NBBJ’s architectural practice, Volker contributed for
five years as software developer to a 3D modeling package. Volker
earned a professional architectural degree (Dipl.-Ing. der Architektur)
from the Technical University Berlin in 1988, and as a Fulbright
Scholar proceeded to earn a Master of Architecture degree with
a Computer Aided Architectural Design Certificate from the Ohio
